If power/noise/heat is not an issue, what should we get?

Me and a couple buddies work at a small ISP, and have access to place a few U’s of equipment in our datacenter at a discounted rate. Someone came up with the idea of bitcoin mining, the plan is to pool our money on some hardware and let it run 24/7 for a year (or more) and cashout. The only restriction is that is has to fit in a server rack (around 4Us but we can go bigger) and be around $2-$3000.First of all is this even a decent plan of action? would we get better ROI with a different cryptocurrency? And of course, any suggestions for hardware? via /r/BitcoinMining http://bit.ly/29vC1mh
