In honor of the halving, I have released a FREE 92 page eBook about Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-currencies, with a primary focus on Casascius coins. It is effectively about 30% of the ‘Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies, which I published in April.

Back in June 2013, I wrote a 30 page eBook about Casascius coins. In April 2016, I published the 270 page full-color Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies, of which the first 25 were signed by Mike Caldwell (creator of Casascius).

Now, I am making 90 pages of the Encyclopedia free for everyone, with the hope of sharing my passion with as many people as possible. I call it The Casascius Guide & Official Teaser

You can open the PDF at http://bit.ly/29s3WmB The website also serves as a market place for the rarest of physical bitcoins.

Anyone know the specs on the S9’s 120mm fans?

I’m looking at getting into mining, but I live in an apartment complex so running even a couple antminers would produce a LOT of noise.I live in a corner apartment so I can run the rig in the corner such that the two near walls face outside. But I still have people living above and below me.To begin I will probably lay down a rubber/foam mat on the ground underneath the main rig, which should dampen most noise going downwards. However unfortunately the roof of said room is stucco, which means I don’t think I can put any kind of mat or sound barrier on it.Its also a rented apartment so I can’t do any kind of serious modifications to the walls. The most I am allowed is putting nails in the walls, screws, etc. The stucco is ancient and would probably crack to bits if I did anything to it.To begin, I am wondering if part of why Antminers are so loud is if they just have cheap factory default fans that are just noisy due to weak design, and if buying better fans will fix most of my issues?http://bit.ly/29wQq49 this is the list I am looking at. If I can be around 50db total for the whole rig it shouldn’t bother the neighbours. Optimally I want to be at about 35DB total though per antminer since that will let me run probably 3 of them safely.I’m leaning towards this fan here: http://bit.ly/29sxqpK to that and putting some foam/rubber under the Antminer to lift it up an inch or s (which will also keep the fan from touching the mounted surface) might help quite a bit. Also, if I put up some simple foam on the two nearest walls that should absorb a decent chunk of noise, a lot of which would normally reflect back up to the roof, right? What kind of solutions has everyone here come up with? via /r/BitcoinMining http://bit.ly/29wQz7J

I'm looking at getting into mining, but I live in an apartment complex so running even a couple antminers would produce a LOT of noise.

I live in a corner apartment so I can run the rig in the corner such that the two near walls face outside. But I still have people living above and below me.

To begin I will probably lay down a rubber/foam mat on the ground underneath the main rig, which should dampen most noise going downwards. However unfortunately the roof of said room is stucco, which means I don't think I can put any kind of mat or sound barrier on it.

Its also a rented apartment so I can't do any kind of serious modifications to the walls. The most I am allowed is putting nails in the walls, screws, etc. The stucco is ancient and would probably crack to bits if I did anything to it.

To begin, I am wondering if part of why Antminers are so loud is if they just have cheap factory default fans that are just noisy due to weak design, and if buying better fans will fix most of my issues?

Switching to that and putting some foam/rubber under the Antminer to lift it up an inch or s (which will also keep the fan from touching the mounted surface) might help quite a bit.

Also, if I put up some simple foam on the two nearest walls that should absorb a decent chunk of noise, a lot of which would normally reflect back up to the roof, right?

What kind of solutions has everyone here come up with?
